Trim Review
How much of today's result was carried by a few outliers? The table recomputes the core session stats with the biggest movers removed. Trimmed rows are colored vs baseline: green = holds most of the move, amber = meaningful erosion, red = collapses or flips sign.
| Scenario | Trades | Net P&L | Total R | E[R] / trade | $ WR | PF |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Baseline (all trades) | 38 | −$1955.06 | -2.34R | -0.062R | 31.6% | 0.70 |
| − single best + single worst | 36 | −$982.69 | -1.18R | -0.033R | 30.6% | 0.79 |
| − top 2 + bottom 2 (≈5% each tail) | 34 | −$484.86 | -0.58R | -0.017R | 29.4% | 0.86 |
Trimmed trades: Single best + single worst — removed JEM +$840.32 (best) · DAIC −$1812.69 (worst). Top 2 + bottom 2 — removed 2 from each tail (by $ P&L).
Bottom-heavy red session: most of the loss came from a few prints. The broader distribution is closer to neutral than the total P&L suggests.
Session verdict
{"dayVerdict":"DAIC was back in the trader's fills today, and this time the results were the reverse of the prior session's early captures. The stock opened at $3.635, ran to a high of $6.49 at 5:16pm ET (78.5% open-to-high), and closed at $3.88, holding just 9% of that move.
The trader's two DAIC positions today were both long entries early in the session, at 9:31am and 9:34am, and both were losers — -$1.19k and -$1.81k, a combined -$3.0k on the day's single biggest position drag. That's a stock that did move meaningfully, but the entries landed on the wrong side of it well before the 5:16pm high, so none of the eventual run was captured.\n\nThe one clean win of the day came in JEM, which opened at $5.17 and ran to $8.68 by 11:56am ET (67.9% open-to-high), closing at $6.795 and retaining 46% of its move — one of the better closes among today's names.
The trader's JEM long at 11:36am ET returned +$840.32, a real share of a move that held up reasonably well into the close. Outside of DAIC and JEM, the remaining 36 positions produced a mix of small wins and losses that netted negative, with the $3-5 price bucket alone showing -$3.73k against 6 trades — a bucket dominated by the two DAIC losers.
Seven other names today moved 30% or more from open to high (AIXI, OFAL, DFNS, TNMG, SWVL, BDRX, AMIX) and none were traded; several of those, including DFNS (-38% retained) and BDRX (-43% retained), gave back most of their moves anyway, so the opportunity cost there was limited, but AIXI's 83.6% open-to-high and OFAL's 70.7% went entirely unaddressed.\n\nThe day as a whole was proportionate to what was on offer rather than a case of big moves ignored: today's runners were mostly modest and bled quickly (five of nine had negative pctOfMoveRetained), and the trader's actual exposure — DAIC and JEM — captured the day's two most tradable names, just on the wrong side of one of them. Net -$1.96k on 38 positions with a 31.6% win rate reflects the DAIC losses far more than a broad misread of the session.\n\nAcross the trailing week, the pattern in pctOfMoveRetained keeps favoring smaller-float names with early highs: PFSA (0.6M float, high at 4:53pm... actually 16:12, retained 78%) and JEM itself (0.6M float, high at 11:56am, retained 46%) sit among the better holders, while names with highs after 4pm — DAIC on both 8/24 and 8/25, LOOP on 8/19 — have retained under 15% or gone negative in three of those four instances.
DAIC's own history this week illustrates the fade: 479.5% open-to-high on 8/24 collapsed to 13% retained, and today's smaller 78.5% move retained just 9%. The trader's DAIC entries this morning fit the fading side of that split, while the JEM trade landed on the side that has actually held up.","}
