Trim Review

How much of today's result was carried by a few outliers? The table recomputes the core session stats with the biggest movers removed. Trimmed rows are colored vs baseline: green = holds most of the move, amber = meaningful erosion, red = collapses or flips sign.

Broad green session: still clearly green after trimming the biggest movers, so the day was a stack of small plus-EV decisions compounding — not a few home runs.

Session verdict

{"dayVerdict":"The day's trading was concentrated almost entirely in two names, DAIC and XPON, and both were genuine movers. DAIC opened at $1.08 and ran to a high of $6.26 by 5:19pm ET, a 479.5% open-to-high move, before collapsing back to $1.73 at the close — only 13% of that move survived.

The trader's two DAIC fills came early, at 9:46am and 9:51am, for gains of $1.72k and $960, well before the bulk of the afternoon give-back; that's a real share of the move captured on the way up, not a hold into the fade. XPON opened at $7.77 and topped at $9.99 by 9:09am ET, a 28.6% move that then reversed hard to close at $6.20, retaining -71% (a net loss from the open).

The trader's four XPON fills were clustered in the 9:08am-9:53am window — two winners (+$1.28k, +$1.02k) and two losers (-$1.51k, -$931) — netting roughly -$140 in a stock whose move was mostly given back by the close. Taken together, the two names the trader worked hardest were also the two most extreme retention profiles of the day (13% and -71%), and the net result, +$6.38k on 67 positions with a 59.7% win rate, came almost entirely from being early in DAIC rather than from timing XPON's swings.

Beyond those two, the trader's other fills were scattered and small by comparison, with the $1-2 and $2-3 price buckets carrying the bulk of the day's profit ($4.75k and $1.31k) while the $5-10 bucket, dominated by XPON, cost $276 net. Eight other runners today moved 25% or more from the open and none were traded — including PMI's 65.6% move to a $7.50 high (holding only 20% into the close) and SDOT's 46.8% move to $31.60 (holding 16%) — sizeable moves left entirely on the table, though neither held its gains any better than what the trader did trade.

Looking at the trailing week, the pattern across recent runners is a split between overnight/premarket toppers and session-hour toppers: names that made their high before 8am — OLOX (04:10), RITR (04:00 on 8/24, 04:18 on 8/20), DXST (07:00), UCL (08:09), TRUG (04:02, 04:00), SLE (04:59), IVF (07:00), SGLY (04:53) — retained deeply negative to single-digit percentages of their move nearly across the board, while several afternoon or multi-hour toppers held far more: PFSA's 16:12 high retained 78%, WETO's 16:47 high on 8/17 retained 44%, XOS's 11:22 high on 8/20 retained 71%. DAIC's high today came at 5:19pm yet still retained only 13%, and XPON's high came at 9:09am and retained -71% — both fit the pattern of fast, single-session spikes with little late-day support rather than the sustained-hold profile, which is consistent with why capturing the early leg (as the trader did in DAIC) mattered more than trying to hold through the top."}
