Running P&L for 2026-03-05

The day started with MTEK, which was showing significant volatility and volume right out of the gate. I entered short at 2.49, looking to capitalize on the weakness I was seeing in the tape. The stock had gapped up significantly, and the initial move was choppy with sellers starting to show some strength. I was looking for a quick scalp, but the stock didn’t cooperate. It pushed up to 2.58, where I was feeling the pressure, and ended up exiting at 2.60 for a loss. Best exit was at 2.42, but I was already in a tough spot by then. Overall, it was a disappointing start, losing $416.

Moving on, I shifted my focus to GXAI later in the morning. This name was also hot, gapping up and trading with high relative volume. I saw a potential washout long setup after a sharp drop, and I took a position after it bounced off the VWAP. The entry was around 6.20, and as it started to reclaim some ground, I was able to exit at 6.70. It felt like the buyers were finally stepping in, and I ended up locking in a solid gain of about $500 on that trade. The tape showed good bids holding up, and the volume was increasing as it moved higher, which gave me confidence in the exit.

After that, I tried to catch some action in MOBX, which had a massive gap and was trading heavily. I entered at 2.85 with the intention of riding a potential breakout. As it approached the high of the day, it started to stall out, and I quickly cut my position when I noticed sellers were aggressive, taking it back down to my entry. I exited around 2.80, taking a small hit but avoiding a larger loss. It was a reminder that I need to be more vigilant when trading such volatile names.

Later in the afternoon, I looked at BATL, which was moving in the oil and gas sector. The setup was looking promising as it consolidated near the highs. I took a long position at 4.10, anticipating a breakout. Unfortunately, the sellers were staying heavy, and it failed to break out as I had hoped. I exited at 4.05 for a minor loss, but the price action was telling me to step back. I could see the tape was not supporting the move.

By the end of the day, I had a mixed bag of trades. I did find some moments of clarity and good executions, particularly with GXAI, but I also had my share of misreads. The market was particularly active today, with sectors like technology and energy seeing a lot of movement. There was a lot of rotation, and I noticed that some of the smaller caps were getting attention, which can always lead to unpredictable price action.

What I did well: Managed to cut losses quickly when the tape turned against me.
What I did poorly: Overtraded a bit on MTEK when I should have waited for clearer setups.

Trading grade: B — Solid execution on some trades, but a few misreads on entries that cost me.

Tomorrow, I’ll focus on being more selective with entries.
