A qualitative run-through of every trade from 2026-01-05: setups, thought process, and outcomes.
I caught a solid washout long on MNTS early in the morning, which set the tone for my trading day. My first entry was at 9.34, right when it showed signs of capitulation after a sharp drop. The stock was trading around the 1m9 at 8.98, so I was confident in the setup as it bounced off that level. I managed to exit at 9.71 for an average, with my best exit hitting 10.83. The move was strong, and the tape showed buyers stepping in aggressively, pushing the price higher despite a rough start.
Following that, I shifted my focus to TMDE. I took a long position at 0.8700, banking on the gap and go strategy. The stock had gapped up and was holding well, with the 1m9 extended above key support levels. This one had a nice, quick spike, and I exited at 0.9439, with a best exit at 0.9900. The volume was decent, and it felt like the buyers were in control, pushing it up quickly in a short time frame.
Overall, the market today had a good mix of action, particularly in the industrials and energy sectors. MNTS in aerospace and defense showed significant volatility, and TMDE in marine shipping had a solid rotation of volume. The rvol on TMDE was lower compared to MNTS, which made it a bit more challenging to trade, but I was able to capitalize on the right setups.
What I did well: I identified the washout long setup effectively and executed well on TMDE.
What I did poorly: I could have managed my risk better on some of the smaller trades that didn't follow through.
Trading grade: B+ — Good execution on key trades, but some smaller positions could have been handled with more precision.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s opportunities.
